Meta-owned Instagram has started testing a new privacy feature for DMs. This feature will provide users with the ability to turn read receipts off in their DMs. This means that people will be able to hide their message read status.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced on his Broadcast Channel, “You asked, we listened. We heard your feedback and have started testing a new feature that lets you turn read receipts off in your DMs. Soon, people will be able to choose when to let others see when they’ve read their messages.”

In our opinion, the ability to turn off read receipts in Instagram DMs will offer several benefits. With this feature, you will have more control over your privacy and can choose when to reveal that you’ve read a message. This can be particularly useful when you want to read a message without the sender knowing, which can be helpful in various situations.

Also, disabling read receipts will help prevent misunderstandings or awkward situations that may arise when someone sees that you’ve read their message but haven’t replied yet.

It’s important to note that the ability to turn off read receipts in DMs is an optional feature, so you can choose to enable or disable it based on your preference.

Recently, Instagram started testing an innovative collaboration feature. This feature will allow your friends to add photos and videos to your feed posts, which you have to approve to include them in the post. This feature will make content sharing more engaging and fun.
