Instagram is the go-to app for almost everyone in our generation, by that I mean GenZ and even for those who try to be. It could be one of the most popular social media platforms for our generation and well Instagram knows that too. To cater to the GenZ audience on its platform, Instagram recently shared new upcoming features for the platform. These will be majorly aimed at the GenZs and were announced during a recent product education session held at Meta’s Gurugram office to mark Instagram’s 13th birthday on October 6th. Let’s find out more about this, I am curious.
Instagram announced four new features that they think would attract the GenZ audience and they said they are going to start testing them out soon. These features are Birthday, Audio Notes, Selfie Video Notes, along Multiple Lists in Stories.

Okay, this isn’t exactly new. We are all grateful to Facebook for giving us birthday reminders for our near and dear ones. So, Instagram is bringing that to its platform now. It is a thing with Meta and making all the platforms alike. The feature on Instagram will let the friends and followers of a user know that it’s their birthday. To make it even more special, you can celebrate with stickers and confetti.
When we don’t have the time to type or are just too lazy then we resort to audio notes. Don’t we? We could already send voice messages on Instagram but once the new feature is enabled, we can leave audio messages in the notes section. Yes, the one on the top of your DM list.
Just like audio notes, you can even record a short video as a note which will stay there for 24 hours. A similar feature was introduced on WhatsApp recently.

You know how we have stories that we can only share with “close friends” on Instagram. So, taking that into consideration, Instagram will introduce multiple lists for your stories. You can make one for your friends, one for family, one for office people and share only what you want with the people you want to.
The features will go into the testing phase soon and then let’s see when they are rolled out.
