Instagram to soon get Trending Hashtags and Follow suggestions
Instagram takes on Twitter-like features, including Trending Hashtags and Follow suggestions.
According to reports, Instagram is planning to add new features including follow suggestions, trending hashtags, and “curated” content. The update is meant for Android and iOS users but there is no word from Instagram about when will it be rolled out.
Instagram will now show Twitter like Trending Hashtags, which will tell users about the most popular hashtags. Users will be able to explore more profiles, pics and content with the new Hashtags feature on the photo sharing site. Instagram has also started showing "Suggested" users to find more profiles. The suggestions are algorithmic, not hand-curated and would increase the follower counts for prominent users.
Photo sharing app Instagram, has also rolled out v6.0 for Android and iOS in June that brings new photo-editing tools for users. The new update allow users to adjust brightness levels, contrast and saturation of images. The filters allows users to enhance photos or add different hues to them, for eg, you can make an image look as if it was taken from a Polaroid camera in the 1970s. Users can download the new version from the Google play store and the Apple app store.
Facebook owned Instagram which has over 200 million users globally has also launched a new Bolt Messaging app last month. The app is similar to Snapchat and lets you share photos and video messages, but they will disappear once they have been read. The app has been launched selectively in New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa for now. The company states that these countries have high number of Instagram users which makes them good testing ground before a global launch.
