Instagram, the popular filter-laden photo sharing network has gained popularity rather quickly, becoming one of the core apps for any mobile operating system. It has become one of the top apps people consider before migrating from one platform to the next. Windows Phone 8 has been at the losing end of the deal so far, but if a leaked screenshot is to be believed, that might be changing soon.
The leaked screenshot comes courtesy of Anontechleaks, and shows off the Instagram icon laid out in the Windows Phone Marketplace along with a description of the app. According to the page, the app isn’t yet available for download on the user’s device.
The screenshot could be hints at an impending release of the app for the less than popular mobile OS, but at the same time, there is the possibility that it is a fake. The screenshot was updated after a series of users pointed out that the original screenshot had the lines “a simple way to make and share gorgeous photos on your Android” after which, the user promptly posted an updated screenshot with the correct OS name.
All this leads us to believe that the leaked Instagram screenshot this was a quick photoshop job, or it could also be that the internal app page just copy-pasted the information from the Play store, along with the erroneous OS description. So whether you decide to hold onto your Instagram for WP8 hope or not, is entirely up to you.
