What will this feature do?

It will reportedly allow you to hide your original profile from unwanted people. You will be able to add a different photo and name for those whom you don’t want to view your original one. You will be able to mask your original information from them.

Speaking about this, Webetainfo said,  “A new alternate profile feature will be available within the privacy screen regarding our profile photo and it allows users to configure a different photo and name that will be visible to those contacts who cannot see their primary profile information. For example, if only your contacts can see your profile photo, this means that people outside your contact list cannot see it but they will be able to see your alternate profile picture. It’s worth noting that the same feature will also be accessible within your profile section.”

This feature, however, is currently under development and isn’t even out for beta testing. But if reports are to be believed, they will be out for us to use soon. But this does sound quite beneficial in terms of privacy, let’s see when it comes out.
