Game of Thrones is now available in India uncensored via Hotstar. The first episode of the sixth season, called 'The Red Woman', is already available to watch on the service. Hotstar also says that the episodes will be “unspoilt”, which hints that viewers can enjoy the uncensored version of the episodes without any advertisements. Watching the episodes requires a premium account which costs Rs. 199 per month. However, new subscribers get a one month free trial when they sign up. The previous episodes of the TV show are also available via the service.
Star India had signed a deal with HBO, which allowed Hotstar to stream HBO’s programing content. As part of the deal, users also get access to other content by HBO such as True Detective, Silicon Valley, and more. The Hotstar app is available for Android and iOS devices, and on the desktop via the web browser. Before this, most fans of the TV show in India had to wait till it was telecast in the country or illegally download the episodes. This deal should also help Hotstar better compete with other video streaming services such as Netflix. Game of Thrones is currently not available on Netflix. In addition, a subscription to Hotstar is also cheaper than Netflix, which start at Rs. 500 a month.
