Google has announced that it is rolling out new features on Google Drive on large-screen Android devices. The new features aim to make tablet experience similar to the web experience.

“Building upon improvements to the Google Workspace experience on large screen Android devices, we’re excited to announce additional enhancements that bring our tablet experience more inline with our web experience,” the tech giant announced in a Workspace Updates blogpost.

Above the main doclist, users will now see a tappable folder hierarchy for their current view. This will allow them to keep track of where they are in Google Drive and easily navigate out of nested folders.

Users will also notice per-file data columns that will show when a file was last modified and how much storage is used by each file.

Moreover, there is a new colour palette that matches the Google Material Design 3 guidelines.

If you haven’t received the new features yet, just wait a little while as these enhancements are currently rolling out to all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google Accounts.

In our opinion, the new Google Drive features for tablets aim to streamline the user experience by making navigation more user-friendly and visually appealing on large-screen Android devices.

Recently, Google added a two-page view for PDFs in the Google Drive app on large-screen Android devices. This side-by-side view of the PDF mimics the experience of reading a physical book or magazine, making it more comfortable and familiar for users. Also, this feature helps users to quickly navigate and find specific information within the document. This can be particularly useful for research or reference materials.

For users who regularly work with PDF documents, especially on their Android tablets or foldable devices, the two-page view feature can improve productivity and streamline their workflow.
