Custom notifications, one of the most sought after features, will allow users to set custom tones for individual contacts.
Google has rolled out an update to its messaging app Hangouts. The version 2.1.223 brings quite a few changes and new features such as unified SMS block list and ability custom notification tones for individual contacts. The update reportedly comes with several bug fixes such as excessive battery drain.
The new SMS block list is supposed to make it easier for users to keep track on which contacts are blocked and unlock. Custom notifications, one of the most sought after features, will allow users to set custom tones for individual contacts.
There's a new keyboard indicator button, which helps easily switch between numpads and full keyboard layouts. With the hidden contact list, users can see contacts they've hidden from the main conversation list. You can hide a contact by long pressing a hangout contact, choose hide contact.
The new update isn't reflecting in the Play store as yet, but we expect it to be available soon. In the meanwhile, you have the option to upgrade your Hangouts by downloading the APK, authorised by Google.
