Google’s latest Android mobile OS, v4.2 Jelly Bean is suffering from a flaw that has caused the month of December vanishing from its ‘People’ app, widely used to store information about contacts. The People app shows January 2013 straight after November 2012.
The other Google Calendars, however, haven’t been unaffected by the glitch. Google recently launched Android version 4.2 OS, which is currently available on select devices such as Nexus 4 and Nexus 10. The glitch in the OS was first spotted by Android Police.
“Christmas is ruined. Santa is dead. At least we’ll save money on buying presents, right?” writes Android Police’s Artem Russakovskii.
“If you’re an early adopter you’re affected by it, but they will rush out an update very quickly,” says Pocket-Lint’s Stuart Miles in his report titled Google steals December in Android 4.2. “It’s quite a small bug. It’s the equivalent of spelling something wrong on the front page of a newspaper – it’s embarrassing and frustrating but ultimately it’s not going to end the world.”
According to Pocket-Lint, Google has acknowledged the problem and is working on a fix. We suspect that fix, pushing the OS to Android 4.2.1, will be out shortly.
