Google Play Games is launching the beta software for Windows PC Today
The open beta will allow users to play 85 Android games on a PC.
The beta service will expand in the US and seven other countries.
Google Play Games will launch in open beta for US users today, allowing anyone to try Android games on a PC. Earlier this year, Google introduced an initial beta version of the Windows laptop/desktop software, but it stayed limited to South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. However, today's launch expands the beta service to the US and seven other countries, including Canada, Mexico, Indonesia, Philippines, Brazil, Singapore, and Malaysia.
The Android games that Google has made available include Cookie Run: Kingdom, 1945 Air Force, Evony: The King's Return, and Blade Idle. In addition, the app will automatically sync your game progress between mobile and PCs so you can continue on different platforms from where you left off. Unfortunately, there are currently 85 games available worldwide on the service. However, Google is reportedly adding new titles to the Play Games catalog.
Minimum Specs of PC required to enjoy the new Google Play Games feature:
- Windows 10 (v2004)
- Solid state drive (SSD)
- Intel UHD Graphics 630 GPU or comparable
- 4CPU physical cores
- 8GB of RAM
- 10GB of available storage space
- Windows admin account
- The user must turn on hardware virtualization. Compatible PC device and configuration

Arjun Dayal, director of Google Play Games, said, "We're thrilled to expand our platform to more markets for players to enjoy their favorite games on Google Play. As we progress towards a full release, we will continue adding new features and evaluating developer and player feedback."
According to the Android Developers blog post, Google aims to provide the game access to multiple players on as many devices as possible. In addition, feedback collected after the August launch suggested that players participating in the beta were excited that they could now seamlessly play their favorite games across their PCS, phones, tablets, and Chromebooks. Additionally, Google has significantly upgraded to reach even more players by reducing the minimum specifications required to access the new PC beta version for playing Android games.
Google Play Games differs from Microsoft's aim to bring Android apps to Windows 11. Microsoft's latest OS offers games and apps from Amazon's App Store as part of their partnership. In addition, Microsoft built an underlying Windows Subsystem for Android into Windows 11, but Google has created a separate app to bring its Google Play Android games to PC. Users can access the app for free if they want to try the Google Play Games beta on a PC.
