Have you ever found yourself struggling to keep up with meeting notes, only to realize later that you missed crucial details? Google Meet might just have the perfect solution for you. With the increasing reliance on virtual meetings, staying on top of important discussions has become more challenging than ever. But what if you had a virtual assistant to do the note-taking for you, ensuring you never miss a beat?

Well, Google has announced that it will soon roll out a new AI-powered feature called “Take notes for me” for its video communication service Google Meet. This feature will automatically take notes during your meetings.

“Prior to end user availability, admins can now configure whether their users can use this Google AI note-taking feature with a new Admin console setting. This setting can be configured in the Admin console by going to Apps > Google Workspace > Google Meet > Gemini Settings,” the tech giant said in a Workspace Updates blogpost.

According to the company, this control gives admins more flexibility to test the feature within specific Organisational units (OUs) or Groups before deploying the feature more broadly within their organisation.

It’s important to note that the “Take notes for me” feature is available for customers who have a Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, or AI Meetings and Messaging add-on. So, only users who are assigned one of these licences will be able to use the note-taking feature.

Notes documents will be stored in the meeting owner’s Drive folder and will adhere to the Meet retention policy set by your organisation. If you’re testing this feature in Workspace Labs and Alpha, the experience will shift from following the Drive retention policy to aligning with the Meet retention policy.
