Giving an example, Google explained that suppose you’re visiting San Francisco and want to plan a few hours of thrifting for unique vintage finds, you will just have to ask Google Maps what you’re looking for, like “places with a vintage vibe in SF.”

Then, Google’s AI models will analyse Maps’ information about nearby businesses and places along with photos, ratings and reviews from the Maps community to give you suggestions.

Google Maps will provide you results organised into helpful categories — like clothing stores, vinyl shops and flea markets — along with photos and review summaries that show why a place might be good for you to visit.

You can even extend the conversation with a subsequent inquiry, such as “How about lunch?” and Maps will recommend suitable places that align with the vintage vibe you’re looking for, like an old-school diner nearby.

This generative AI-based feature will likely be helpful if you’re feeling spontaneous or need to change your plans suddenly.
