If you drive any sort of vehicle, you might agree with me when I say that we are highly dependent on Google Maps. And just a couple of days ago, 2 men from Kerala found themselves in the middle of a swollen river just because they were following Google Maps “religiously”. Read along to find out what happened.

How did Google Maps go wrong in Kerala?

Two men from Kerala were headed to a hospital in the neighbouring state of Karnataka. Just like all of us do, they were also following Google Maps to navigate. During the journey, Google Maps directed them towards a narrow road, which they eventually took. This turned out to be a nightmare for the two.

The event occurred in Pallachi district of the state. The men found themselves in the middle of a heavy-flowing river. When asked, the two recalled that they could sense some water ahead with the help of the headlights of the car. But in reality, there was a narrow bridge, with no side railings, and a really heavy flowing river on both sides.

The flow of the river was so much that it eventually carried the car away. However, by god’s grace, the car got stuck in a nearby tree and they were able to escape from the car. The two men then informed the fire police who came and rescued the men in distress.

After the incident, one of the victims, Rasheed said that he never thought that they would ever come back from there and this was nothing short of a miracle for them. He further added that it feels like a rebirth.

This story is just a reminder to us that we shouldn’t really trust Google Maps with blind eyes. We never know when a small turn can turn fatal.
