Google updates Keyboard with one-handed mode and more
Other changes introduced in Google Keyboard v5.0 include options to adjust the height of the keyboard, prediction changes and gesture typing.
Google has updated its Keyboard app, including a number of new features such as one-handed mode, adjustable keyboard height, and more. The one-handed mode in the v5.0 update makes it easier to type on large-screen devices with just one hand. Users can also adjust the height of the screen in the settings, to suit the user’s preference.
In addition, users can now long press any key to select a corresponding symbol, instead of switching to the symbol layout by pressing the Alt key. The Google Keyboard also offers quicker access to emojis that can now be accessed by pressing and holding the Enter key. There are also a number of changes made to predictions and gesture typing. Google Keyboard now allows users to long press a word in the predictions bar to delete it from the dictionary. When using gesture typing, the prediction of the next word will not be hovered, but will be seen in the predictions bar. In addition, users can now delete whole words by swiping left from the delete key, and move the cursor left or right by swiping the space bar in the desired direction. The update is currently being rolling out and should be available to all users soon.
