FB Messenger gets Yahoo’s finance, news, weather, pet monkey chat bots
HIGHLIGHTS

While finance, news and weather bots are designed to keep users up-to-date, the pet monkey is a virtual pet that users can interact with via emojis.

Yahoo has introduced four new algorithmically-driven bots Facebook Messenger. The company says that the bots are algorithmically driven, and are designed to help users stay up-to-date with finance, news, and weather. The fourth bot is a pet monkey that users can interact with. To use the bots, users need to open Facebook Messenger and search for @YahooFinance, @YahooNews, @YahooWeather, or @MonkeyPet and send it a message. The feature is available for iPhones or Android devices.

The Yahoo Finance bot allows users to search for news and information about the stock market. Besides following market trends and reading news related to finance, users can also play games with the bot. The Yahoo News bot will help users discover trending stories and learn more about news that interests them the most. Users can also search for specific news stories. Similarly, the Yahoo weather bot lets users find information about the weather and also allows to them caption images from Flickr and then share them with their friends. The Monkey Pet bot is a virtual pet that users can interact with via emojis. The bot will also share selfies from its “travels.”

Facebook announced that it was adding bots to its messaging platform during the annual F8 developers conference this year. These bots are powered by artificial intelligence, and are aimed at achieving daily tasks much simpler and faster. The company had also announced that it was allowing third parties to build chatbots into Messenger. A few months back, online consultation platform, Lybrate added a chatbot that allowed users to get health tips and advice from the service.
