The free FBReader app is now available on Intel® Atom tablets for Android, making reading more enjoyable and simple.
FBReader is a highly customizable reading app that supports numerous eBook file formats including ePub 2/3, rtf, doc (MS Word), html, fb2(.zip), mobi (including non-protected kindle books), and plain text file formats. It is highly customizable, allowing users to use external TrueType/OpenType fonts and custom backgrounds. Screen brightness can be changed during reading easily and FBReader supports different day/night color schemes.
Plus, FBReader includes a browser that allows users to download from network eBook catalogs and stores with popular titles in English, French, Russian, Chinese and Polish libraries. Custom OPDS catalogs are supported as well. Or, users can download books manually and put them into sdcard/books catalog on an Android* tablet. FBReader is also integrated with external dictionaries including ColorDict, Slovoed, Fora, FreeDictionary.org and LEO dictionary.
When developing FBReader, FBReader.ORG Limited took advantage of its status as an Intel Software Partner in the Intel Developer Zone. The company’s developers accessed Intel tools, code, support and more to optimize FBReader for the touch controls, high-resolution screen and more of new Android* tablets.
New Android tablets offer a convenient way to enjoy the books you love with FBReader,” said Nikolay Pultsin, owner of FBReader.ORG Limited. “Through the ability to store multiple books and customize reading, people get an enhanced reading experience."
