eBay adds support for One Time Passwords, Touch ID, Android Wear
The update will be helpful for those who have trouble remembering passwords.
If you have trouble remembering passwords, eBay just made things easier for you. The company has updated its Android and iOS mobile apps, and alongside improving performance, it has added support for One Time Passwords. The update also adds Touch ID Authentication to iOS, while support for Android Wear has also been included.
One Time Password works the same way as any other service. Instead of remembering a password, users can opt to receive a single-use password that they can use to login. The login process for iOS users has been made even simpler with the inclusion of Touch ID authentication. Now, iOS users can log in with fingerprints instead of their password.
Dave Comer, Senior Director, Identity and Member Communication Product Management said, “One Time Password and Touch ID Authentication eliminates the need to remember your password when you want access to the eBay Marketplace. We all use so many applications that require passwords and login information that it is impossible for users to remember them all. We want to eliminate the friction entirely.”
While the company has not added fingerprint authentication for Android users, it has added support for Android Wear devices such as Moto 360 or Huawei Watch. Users will see information such as an item’s image, price and time remaining on the listing. Further, Android Wear users will also be able to read member-to-member messages and reply from their watches.
