It was a fairly big surprise that BlackBerry bagged more than 70,000 apps for the BB10 platform at the time of launch, including the popular ones like Skype, Kindle and Whatsapp. However, what continues to pinch the suits at BlackBerry is the fact that one popular app is still missing from the platform – Instagram. Talks are also on with Netflix, to bring an app of the streaming service on the platform. However, that would mostly be relevant to the U.S. users.
From what we are hearing, the company is still in talks with the popular photo sharing network to see if an app can be made for BB10. Incidentally, The Verge has seen Instagram running on the Z10, but they say it looked a lot like the Android version, and could be running on the custom runtime.
We do know of BlackBerry’s persuasion, persistence and possibly even slightly scary tactics that ensured that the previously not-interested developers at WhatsApp came out with a BB10 application well before launch day.
