As mentioned earlier this malware has the ability to collect all personal data. So, once it's into your device it can get hold of your contacts, gallery, messages, any and every app especially UPI apps and any files that are stored on your device.
Daam gets into any device through third party websites or apps that have not been installed from the known sources or the play Store. So, once the data gets collected it is communicated to the attacker and the device gets encrypted and the owner loses control of it slowly and steadily.
CERT-IN has suggested the protocols to be taken into consideration to safeguard your device from this malware. Let's have a look at them:
1) Always download apps from the legit app stores like Play Store incase of Android devices.
2) Before you install any app go through the specifications, user reviews, and everything required to cross out the malware.
3) Do not visit any and every link you come across.
4) Keep the anti-spyware and anti-virus softwares up to date with your phone
5) Use Safe Browsing tools and also the filtering services. Except this do a regular check using the antivirus content-based screening solutions
6) URLs get shortened now, so know before tapping on exactly what it is about.
7) Do Not share any sensitive and personal information like bank details or any account login details before you are 100% sure about its genuinity.
If you see uncanny changes or activities in any of your bank accounts, make sure you reach out to the organisation ASAP so that the necessary steps are taken at the earliest.
