While the regular Amazon Prime monthly membership costs Rs. 179, including Prime Video, Prime Music and one-day delivery, the platform has released a new mobile-only subscription plan cheaper than the regular subscription. The service is called Amazon Prime Video Mobile edition and is available for Indian customers. Here is how much it costs and what it offers.
The Amazon Prime Video Mobile edition costs Rs. 599 a year. Upon conversion, that comes out to be Rs. 50 a month, which, in comparison, is much less than the Netflix Basic plan worth Rs. 149 per month. The Prime Video Mobile edition offers access to all the content on the platform. Still, it limits the resolution to SD, which means that users can watch their favourite movies and series available on Amazon Prime Video, but not HD resolution. However, watching content in SD on a mobile screen won't feel any different, especially for regular users.
The Prime Video Mobile contains all the Amazon Originals, live cricket matches and includes features such as X-ray powered by IMDb. It is important to mention here that the Prime Video Mobile subscription plan does not come with Prime shopping benefits such as access to Prime Days sales, Prime Deals discount and one-day deliveries. Those who wish to opt for the new plan can do so within the Prime Video app on Android, iOS or the web. From what it looks like, Amazon plans to take over its rival platforms, such as Netflix and Disney+ Hotstar, with the cheaper mobile-only plan.
