Amazon Android App Store launches in India taking global tally to 200

Amazon’s app store for Android is now available for Indian mobile users taking the store’s total global reach to 200 countries. Apart from India, the Amazon has also made its app store available for users from countries like Australia, Austria, Brazil, Ireland, Belgium, Switzerland, Mexico and South Africa. In order to install the Amazon App Store on an Android device, users will have to download an APK and directly install it on the device.

In a press release, Amazon has said that to celebrate the launch, it will be providing the popular games Fruit Ninja and Cut the Rope: Experiments for free download today and tomorrow. Amazon differentiates its Android app store from Google’s Play Store with features such as ‘Free App of the Day’, personalized recommendations and 1-Click payments.

The release quotes Mike George, Vice President of Apps and Games at Amazon, “By further expanding the distribution of apps to millions of customers around the world, we are continuing to make it easy for customers to enjoy their Amazon apps on Kindle Fire and any Android device.”
