If Clubhouse and X (formerly known as Twitter) had a child, it would be called Airchat.
No, I am not making this up. Airchat is the latest buzz and an invite-only social media platform. What’s so unique about it? Well, unlike other social media platforms, it is audio-based. I guess the founders were highly impressed by podcasts, that’s why they came up with this. Speaking of founders, Airchat is the brainchild of AngelList founder Naval Ravikant and Tinder co-founder Brian Norgard.

So for us to understand better, Airchat is very similar to X. The difference here is that instead of it being image or text-based, it is audio-based. Like we post text, images, and videos on X, we can post audio notes here. With every post, you get a transcribed text too. Users can choose if they want to listen to the audio or just read the transcription.
To post something, simply click on the microphone button and begin recording the audio. You will get real-time transcription along with the audio. Users can even reply to your posts with an audio note.

As I said, Airchat is an invite-only platform. Which gives it its “exclusive” factor, similar to the celeb-favourite Raya. So, you will have to wait for someone to invite you to use the app. No one wants unwanted voices there. But, the app is available both on the App Store and the Google Play Store. You can download the app and then it will scan your contact list to see who amongst your contacts is an existing user. You can then ask them for an invite.
Let’s see if this app is worth the hype or if it will die down, just like Clubhouse.
