Samsung Galaxy S23

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series launched recently in India. The Galaxy S23 is the compact flagship offering in the series that is also relatively modestly priced in comparison to the S23+ and S23 Ultra. It offers almost all the bells and whistles present on the large Galaxy S23+ including the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset – a slightly beefier version of the regular SD 8 Gen 2 SoC. The phone houses a compact 6.1-inch display with Full HD+ resolution, HDR 10+ support and 120 Hz refresh rate. It is also significantly brighter than its predecessor with a peak rated brightness of 1,750 nits. The phone also features the tougher Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 to protect this impressive display.

For optics, the Galaxy S23 houses the same triple lens setup as its predecessor which includes a 50 MP primary sensor withy OIS and Dual Pixel PDAF, a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultrawide shooter – although the performance has been allegedly buffed due to some software improvements. You also get 8K video recording at 24/30fps and it will be interesting to see if the video quality in 8K has improved over its predecessor. Lastly, you also get a modest 3,900 mAh battery, which should be serviceable for the compact 6.1-inch display, however, there’s only 25 W charging support which seems dated for 2023.
