Realme has launched its latest entrant in its popular Narzo series today. The Realme Narzo 70 Pro (review) has been launched starting at ₹19,999 in India and it comes with a bunch of impressive features and specifications. The Realme Narzo 70 Pro houses a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 2,000 nits of peak local brightness, a 50 MP Sony IMX890 camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery. The phone competes with like likes of the iQOO Z9 and Nothing Phone (2a) in the sub-₹25K price segment. I had the chance to speak with Realme Founder and CEO, Sky Li, about the latest launch and what makes the Realme Narzo 70 Pro special.

Digit: The realme NARZO 70 Pro sees a decline in third-party bloatware in the UI. What was the reason behind this decision? Will this be exclusive to the NARZO series or will other phones get an OTA update to address bloatware issues?
Sky Li, Realme: The reduction of third-party bloatware in the realme NARZO 70 Pro 5G UI is a result of our commitment to improving user experience. This decision was taken based on feedback from our users who desired a cleaner, more efficient user interface. By reducing pre-installed third-party apps by 65%, we’ve ensured that the realme NARZO 70 Pro 5G offers a powerful and user-friendly experience, running on realme UI 5.0, based on Android 14.
This gives our users a pure software experience, free from unnecessary clutter. Our aim is to provide our users with a seamless and enjoyable smartphone experience, and we believe that reducing third-party bloatware is a significant step in achieving this goal. Please stay tuned for further updates.
Digit: The realme NARZO 70 Pro focuses a lot on low-light photography and design. Can you tell us how realme has worked with the sensor and ISP to ensure good-quality low-light photography?
Sky Li, Realme: The smartphone features a high-quality sensor with bigger pixels and a wider aperture. This allows more light to penetrate the lens, greatly improving the quality of images taken in low-light circumstances. The sensor also employs pixel binning technology, which combines data from several pixels to provide a brighter and more detailed image.
In addition to the hardware improvements, we have also worked extensively on the Image Signal Processor (ISP). Our proprietary Nightscape mode uses intelligent multi-frame processing to reduce noise and enhance clarity in low-light shots. It does this by taking several photos at different exposures and then combining them into one optimal photo.
Moreover, our AI algorithms further assist in recognizing various scenes and optimizing settings accordingly for the best possible outcome. This includes adjusting color tones, brightness levels, and contrast to ensure good-quality low-light photography.
We believe these combined efforts on both the sensor and ISP front provide our users with an exceptional low-light photography experience. We are committed to continuous innovation in this area to deliver even better results in future devices.
Digit: The NARZO series by realme is quite popular in India. What steps are taken to ensure market retention?
Sky Li, Realme: At realme, we are committed to maintaining and growing our market share in India, especially with the popular NARZO series. We carry out regular market research and consumer surveys to better understand our Indian customers’ changing needs and preferences. We also strive to offer high-quality smartphones at competitive prices as our aim is to provide devices with top-notch features that are accessible to all segments of the market. Additionally features like the Air gesture controls and Rainwater Smart Touch provides the customers with a more immersive software experience.
We have an extensive network of more than 700 service centers throughout India that provide swift and efficient after-sales servicing. Digit: What is the target audience for the realme NARZO 70 Pro? Will onboarding popular Indian celebrity Shahid Kapoor help reach this market?
Sky Li, Realme: The realme NARZO 70 Pro is primarily aimed at youthful tech enthusiasts, particularly those seeking high-performance devices for photography, and multimedia consumption without sacrificing style or price. We acknowledge that today’s youth are dynamic, aspiring, and constantly on the lookout for things that align with their lifestyle. The NARZO 70 Pro, with its powerful features and sleek Horizon glass design, is intended to appeal to this audience.
Onboarding popular Bollywood celebrity Shahid Kapoor as a product ambassador fits well with our strategy. Shahid, known for his versatility and charm, connects with a younger audience and has a large fan following throughout India. His affiliation with realme will undoubtedly help us reach and engage with our target demographic. We remain committed to delivering quality products and excellent customer service, which we believe are the key factors in reaching and retaining our target audience.
Digit: Is the realme NARZO 70 Pro camera tuned for colour accuracy or for instant shareability on social media? Please tell us more about the cameras.
Sky Li, Realme: NARZO 70 Pro 5G is the smoothest smartphone with the best camera, with a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor with OIS, the largest sensor in this price range, as well as 2X in-sensor zoom. It is ideal for taking bright, clean photographs for Nightscape. When combined with the processor’s tremendous computational capacity, it performs lossless calculations (HDR synthesis and noise reduction) on the original image data, significantly improving picture clarity. Furthermore, it can keep more information and considerably improve highlight suppression capacity. When shooting night settings, it might reduce highlights while maintaining more black details, resulting in pure night images.
Digit: Can you tell us a bit about the design of the realme NARZO 70 Pro? What inspired it?
Sky Li, Realme: The NARZO 70 Pro offers a Horizon Glass design, which offers a unique combination of smoothness and matte finish inside a single glass surface. This glass goes through a high-end production process that improves both the tactile feel and the aesthetic attractiveness of the device. It has a remarkable Patchwork Design Glass, making it unique in the sector. The glass has a light transmission rate of 92%, ensuring clarity and textured appearance. It also feels smooth when held in your hand. The Horizon Glass design boasts a glass back, an asymmetrical circular camera module, and a premium metallic finish, all of which are unique to the market. Additionally, young consumers prefer glass designs over others. When it comes to mid range smartphones, 45% of them prioritize glass backs. The design looks naturally stunning and showcases a perfect precision symmetrical pattern creating a 0.618 golden ratio waistline for the NARZO 70 Pro 5G.
Digit: The realme NARZO 70 Pro uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC, however, some similarly-priced phones in India have the more powerful Dimensity 7200. How is realme planning to combat the disparity of performance in comparison to competitors?
Sky Li, Realme: The realme NARZO 70 Pro is designed keeping in mind a specific set of users who value an exceptional camera, particularly for low light photography, great design, good performance, and an overall amazing user experience.
While the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC used in the NARZO 70 Pro may not be as powerful as the Dimensity 7200 found in some similarly-priced phones, it’s important to note that raw processing power is just one aspect of a smartphone’s performance. Our focus with the NARZO 70 Pro is to provide a balanced performance that caters to the practical use cases of our target audience.
The NARZO 70 Pro excels in areas such as camera performance, with advanced features that allow users to capture stunning photos even in low light conditions. Its design is both aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to use, enhancing the overall user experience. Moreover, our software optimizations ensure that the NARZO 70 Pro delivers a smooth and responsive user experience, despite the difference in processing power. We believe that these factors, combined with the phone’s competitive pricing, make the NARZO 70 Pro a compelling choice for its target audience.
