iPhone 16 Pro to feature a punch-hole cutout and not Dynamic Island? Find out
Apple could actually be testing out the punch-hole display for the iPhone 16 Pro.
Apple is just testing it out for now and we shouldn’t get too excited.
We might not be able to see the punch hole display on the iPhone till the iPhone 17 series.
When it comes to the front camera placement, Apple has always stuck to the notch while Android counterparts moved to the punch-hole display. Even when it came to a change, Apple went with the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 15 series. This allowed for more display space and seems like it is Apple’s way forward. But what if I told you that Apple could get rid of the Dynamic Island too in the coming future?
Yes, you heard that just right. As rumours about the next iPhone 16 series have started to pour in, every day we hear how things could go differently with the iPhone 16 series. We now hear that Apple could actually be testing out the punch-hole display for the iPhone 16 Pro.

Apple is testing a iPhone 16 Pro hole punch version, but it may not be finalized. Details will depend on March next year. I guess most likely we won't see such a version until the iPhone 17 pic.twitter.com/exeo8gWoT0

Apple is considering this punch-hole display for the iPhone 16 Pro variant, according to tipster Majin Bu. Bu took to X to share this. He further added Apple is just testing it out for now and we shouldn’t get too excited. Will it actually make it to the final design? We’ll have to wait for that. Bu said that we could get some clarity about this in March next year.
The tipster adds that this could just be a prototype. Since Apple just customised the Dynamic Island with the iPhone 15 series, it is unlikely that it will switch to the punch-hole display so soon. We might not be able to see the punch hole display on the iPhone till the iPhone 17 series.
