HIGHLIGHTS

Apple will host the upcoming WWDC from June 10th-14th.

It could introduce a separate app for all your Apple passwords.

This app might use the Apple iCloud Keychain service.

We have been talking for a while now how all the major tech companies around the globe have jumped on the bandwagon except for Apple. It is yet to go full out with AI and we are hoping that will be addressed during the upcoming WWDC that Apple will host from June 10th-14th. Ahead of that, we are hearing rumours of the new AI features that Apple might introduce soon with the iOS 18. One such feature is a separate app for passwords. Let’s see what this is about.

On the face of it, this app reminds me of the Google password vault where we store all of our passwords. According to a Bloomberg report, this is going to be the first time when such a dedicated password app will be offered via iOS 18, macOS 15, and iPadOS 18. This app will help streamline the login process.

How will this new iOS 18 password app work?

This app might use the Apple iCloud Keychain service. It can then synchronise passwords and usernames across devices. It might also allow users to import passwords from other services like 1Password and LastPass, making it a comprehensive tool for users.

You will be able to find all your credentials organised under different categories, such as accounts, Wi-Fi networks, and Passkeys. You might even get the auto-fill option, just like on Google where you will not have to type in the credentials every time. Further, the app might also be able to generate verification codes like an authenticator app.

This feature might be available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision Pro, and even Windows. Well WWDC is still a couple of days away and until then let’s take this news with a pinch of salt.
