HIGHLIGHTS
Once you’ve backed up your data, we will show you the process of upgrading your iOS device to iOS7
For all those new to iOS or new to the concept of updating your iOS version to the latest, this workshop will help out and make the effort painless.
How to upgrade your device to iOS7
If you’ve backed up your data, let’s get to the part where you upgrade to iOS7. Make sure your device is connected to a charger so that the device does not die mid-upgrade, which could be disastrous. You can choose to either install iOS7 over Wi-fi or via iTunes.
Wi-Fi
Upgrading is very reliable over Wi-Fi, but make sure you’re getting decent network coverage where you are. These days with 10 to 20 Mbps net connections available in India, it’s actually possible to have wireless network connectivity speeds that are slower than the net speed! Apple has made it really easy to upgrade your OS, just go to Settings > General > Software Update. Any iOS device with iOS 5 or later, will automatically check and inform you when an update is available.
You will be shown the latest version of iOS that you can upgrade to with some additional details. Just click “Download and Install”, and you will be asked to agree to the Terms and Conditions. iOS updates are usually delta updates, which means your device remains fully functional while the update is downloading, so you don’t need to watch a status bar for hours (or minutes, depending on your net connection).
Taking a backup from iTunes
Once the download is complete, the device will warn you and restart to begin installing the OS.
Install using iTunes
If you wish to install using iTunes, just connect your device to your computer and open iTunes. Select your device, go to Summary > Check for Updates. You will be shown the latest OS update and also your current version. Click “Update” to start the process, and once the update is downloaded the device will restart and install it, and after the next restart you will see iOS7.
