The vaccination drive in India has been ramped up to fight against the rising COVID 19 cases. The first day of the revised COVID-19 vaccination policy saw a record of over 85.15 lakh doses administered in India. According to the revised COVID-19 vaccination policy, the Centre will procure 75% of domestically available vaccines for free shots to the 18-plus population.
The Centre has also permitted 'walk-in' registration at vaccination centres where on-site registration can be done. You can now simply walk into the vaccination centre, get registered, and get vaccinated easily. The government has expanded its vaccination drive as it anticipates the possible third wave of COVID-19.
The government has announced free COVID-19 vaccines for all adults, without any prior online registration
The Indian government has declared a Covid-19 vaccination policy from June 21 where the Centre will provide free vaccines to all those above the age of 18 years. The COVID-19 vaccination drive in the country has been centralised and all coronavirus vaccines will be procured by the Government of India and given to states for free. From June 21, all states will get free vaccines for everyone above 18 years of age.
Facts about new COVID-19 vaccination drive:
– The central government will procure vaccination doses and provide free COVID-19 vaccines to the state government from June 21.
– All citizens above the age of 18 will receive free vaccination from government facilities.
– The states will also provide facilities of Common Service Centre and Call Centres can be availed to help citizens book slots for vaccination.
– The centre will procure 75 percent of the vaccines available and will distribute them for free to the states and the Union territories.
– Private sector hospitals get 25% of vaccines and can charge a maximum of Rs 150 per dose over vaccine price.
– You can simply walk into a government hospital to get vaccinated, without any prior registration on CO-Win to get registered on the spot and get vaccinated.
– Private hospitals will also allow on-site registration.
What is a Vaccination Certificate?
A vaccination certificate is issued by the Indian government as proof that you have been vaccinated. The certificate includes all the basic details of the beneficiary including name, age, gender, as well as the details of vaccination. The name of the vaccine, date of receiving the first dose, the next due date for vaccination, location at which the person got vaccinated will also be included in the certificate.
You can get your Covid-19 vaccination certificate once you have received your first vaccination dose or are fully vaccinated. The certificate can be downloaded from the following apps-

Steps to download Covid vaccination certificate
1. To get the covid vaccine certificate from COWIN go to the official website of Cowin https://www.cowin.gov.in/
2. Next click on the Sign In/Register button
3. Login using your registered mobile number
4. You will get an OTP on your phone
5. You will see a Certificate tab under your name
6. Download vaccination certificate on Cowin.
Aarogya Setu app
1. Open the Aarogya Setu app on your phone
2. Sign In using your registered mobile number
3. Then click on the CoWin tab
4. Next click on the Vaccination Certificate option
5. Then Enter your 13-digit beneficiary reference ID
6. Download vaccination certificate on Aarogya Setu
Umang app
1. Download the Umang app on your mobile phone from the Google Play Store and Apple app store for free.
2. Next Click on CoWIN in the 'What's New section'
3. Then Click on 'Download Vaccination Certificate'
4. You will need to register/log in using the registered mobile number
5. You will get an OTP on your phone
6. Simply click on the beneficiary’s name and get the COVID 19 vaccine certificate
Digilocker app
1. Open the Digilocker app on your phone
2. Then Register on the app using personal details like name, address, and Aadhaar number
3. Go to the Health section of the app
4. Then Click on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Select the Vaccine Certificate option
5. You will have to enter your 13-digit reference ID
6. Download the certificate and save it
