The instant messaging app announced the new feature this week. WhatsApp stated that the new feature will bring “users closer to their friends and family." This is an easier and quicker way to send messages as well as personalise them. The feature is rolling out for all Android and iOS users globally.

Till now WhatsApp didn’t have the option to preview voice notes before sending them. Now the company is rolling out the feature to all users. Here’s how to enable WhatsApp voice message preview on your phone. 

How to preview WhatsApp Voice Messages

A new WhatsApp update brings the ability to preview voice messages for Android and iPhone users. Follow the below-mentioned steps to preview WhatsApp voice messages before sending them.

1. First, Open a chat window.
2. Next, you have to tap the microphone and slide it up to lock hands-free mode.
3. Then, just start speaking.
4. Once you are finished, tap on stop.
5. Next Tap play to listen to your recording.
6. You can also tap on any part of the voice recording to play it from that timestamp.
7. Then Tap the trash can to delete the voice message, or tap send to send it.

How to speed up voice message playback

You can also speed up voice message playback by following the below-mentioned steps.

1. First, click Play to listen to voice messages you’ve sent or received.

2. Then Listen to the message.

3. While you are playing the message you can click the 1x icon to increase the speed to 1.5x or 2x.

How to use Undo button for deleting accidental WhatsApp status updates

WhatsApp is bringing new features to the app to improve the user experience. They are working on a new Undo feature that will let you quickly delete accidentally posted status updates. The new feature will allow users to undo a story that they may have posted accidentally or at the wrong time quickly. The new update is currently in the works and will be rolled out in the next few weeks for Android and iOS users. Here is how to use the Undo Button for deleting any accidental status updates.

1. First, go to WhatsApp status
2. You will be able to see Undo option
3. Simply click on the Undo button, to delete the accidental status updates. 

How to retrieve deleted WhatsApp messages

WhatsApp allows users to retrieve accidently deleted chats. In case you unintentionally delete important messages, media, documents, etc. WhatsApp allows you to Restore WhatsApp chats from Google Drive. Follow the below mentioned steps to retrieve the deleted WhatsApp messages.

1. Firstly, make sure WhatsApp is backing your chat history to your Google Drive account.
2. In case you are switching to a new device, then you will need to log in to your Google account first.
3. You can choose an option to back up their chat history daily, weekly, or monthly.
4. If you restore your WhatsApp chat history, you can install WhatsApp and verify your phone number.
5. Once you complete the sign in and verification process, WhatsApp will prompt you to restore your chat history from Google Drive.
6. Just Click on ‘Restore’ to complete this process.
7. Next tap on ‘Next’ to find your old chats.
8. If Google Drive doesn't have your chat history, then WhatsApp will pull the same from local storage. However, this will not work on a new device though.

How to Restore WhatsApp chat history from your local phone backup

WhatsApp allows you to also restore your chat history via local backup. Follow the steps mentioned below to restore WhatsApp chat history.

1. First you will need to go to you file manager, or download one if you don’t have it.
2. Check your WhatsApp folder, which usually is in your internal storage.
3. Next tap on Databases.
4. You will see back-ups of your chat history arranged date-wise.
5. Check the chat history of the date you want.
6. In case your WhatsApp data is saved on an external SD card, you will have to copy the latest entry in the Databases folder.
7. Then paste it in the folder with the same name in your internal storage.
8. Next uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp
9. Then log in using your phone number.
10. Next allow WhatsApp to restore your chat history by tapping on the ‘Restore’ button.
