How to mark important messages on Instagram

Flagging a message on Instagram adds an orange flag to the top right of the chat in your inbox. Remember that this feature is not available for private accounts.

Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your Android device.

Step 2: Swipe left anywhere on your feed or tap the arrow icon/ Messenger icon present at the top right corner to go to your inbox.

Step 3: Open the chat you wish to flag.

Step 4: Tap the flag icon present at the top right corner.

Or,

Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your Android smartphone or iPhone.

Step 2: Swipe left anywhere on your feed or tap the arrow icon/ Messenger icon present at the top right corner to go to your inbox.

Step 3: On Android, tap and hold the chat you wish to mark as important. On iOS, swipe left the chat you want to flag and tap the More option.

Step 4: Tap the Flag option.

How to filter Instagram DMs to see only flagged messages

Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your Android device or iPhone.

Step 2: Swipe left anywhere on your feed or tap the arrow icon/ Messenger icon present at the top right corner to go to your inbox.

Step 3: On the right side of the search box, tap the Filter option.

Step 4: Tap the Flagged option to see only flagged messages.

Step 5: To remove the filter, tap Clear.
