In the ever-evolving world of social media, staying connected is a breeze, but sometimes, managing different profiles can be a bit overwhelming. Following the launch of Threads, Meta received backlash for not offering users the option to delete their Threads account, forcing them to delete their Instagram account instead.

However, last year in November, Meta rolled out a feature that allows users to delete their Threads profile without losing their Instagram account.

In this easy-to-follow guide, we will tell you how you can delete or deactivate your Threads account.

How to delete or deactivate Threads account from mobile app

Step 1: Tap the “” icon or your profile picture present at the bottom right corner to go to your profile.

Step 2: Tap the two lines present at the top right corner.

Step 3: Select the Account option.

Step 4: Tap the Deactivate or delete profile option.

Step 5: Select the Deactivate profile option to deactivate your Threads account. If you want to delete your Threads account, select the Delete profile option.

Step 6: If you choose to deactivate your account, tap the Deactivate option to confirm your decision. And, if you choose to delete your account, follow the prompts, then tap Delete Threads profile.

How to delete or deactivate Threads account from computer

Step 1: Open Threads on any web browser. Or click here.

Step 2: Login into your account.

Step 3: Click the two lines present at the top right.

Step 4: Click the Settings option.

Step 5: Click Account at the top.

Step 6: Select the Deactivate or delete profile option.

Step 7: Select the Deactivate profile option to deactivate your Threads account. If you want to delete your Threads account, select the Delete profile option.

Step 8: If you choose to deactivate your account, tap the Deactivate option to confirm your decision. And, if you choose to delete your account, follow the prompts, then tap Delete Threads profile.

Remember that deleting your Threads profile won’t also delete your Instagram account. However, deleting your Instagram account will also delete your Threads profile because it’s managed by your Instagram account.
