How to create Instagram Story Highlights: Step-by-step guide

In today’s world of social media, Instagram continues to be our go-to platform for sharing life’s moments. One of the most popular features of Instagram is stories. Whether it’s a funny snapshot, a behind-the-scenes peek or a daily highlight, Instagram stories let you express yourself in a snap.

Instagram Story Highlights feature is a great way to showcase your best stories on your profile for everyone to see, even after they’ve disappeared from your regular stories. Story Highlights appear on your profile below your bio.

How to add a story to an existing highlight on Instagram

Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your Android device or iPhone.

Step 2: Tap your profile picture present at the bottom right corner to go to your profile.

Step 3: Tap your profile picture in the top left to see your story.

Step 4: Tap the Highlight option present at the bottom of the story that you want to add to your highlights.

Step 5: Select the highlight to which you want to add your story to.

Alternatively, you can also add stories to your highlight at any time by tapping and holding the highlight and then selecting the Edit highlight option.

How to create a new story highlight on Instagram

Step 1: Open the Instagram app.

Step 2: Tap your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.

Step 3: Tap the New option. If you don’t see the New option, tap Story highlight.

Step 4: Tap to select the story or stories that you want to add to the highlight.

Step 5: Tap Next in the top right.

Step 6: Tap Edit cover to choose a cover photo and enter a name for your highlight, then tap Add in the top right.

Remember that stories you add as highlights remain visible as highlights until you remove them, even after the original story has disappeared. Those you’ve allowed to see your story can also see your highlights.

How to delete Story Highlights on Instagram

Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your Android device or iPhone.

Step 2: Tap your profile picture present at the bottom right corner to go to your profile.

Step 3: Tap and hold the highlight that you want to delete.

Step 4: Select the Delete highlight option.

Step 5: Tap Delete to confirm.
