Honor Choice Watch – Makes a great case for itself in the smartwatch space

Updated on 01-Mar-2024

Honor staged a comeback in India last year, marking the brand’s return to this highly competitive market after a very lengthy break. The brand at the time focussed on smartphones; however, they are now diving into the world of smartwatches. Honor is not a new name in this space though. During their last stint in India, they had a few watches listed, and they were doing well. Now, with the launch of the Honor Choice Watch, at Rs. 6,499, they have marked a comeback. I got a chance to experience the watch for some time, recently, and while the watch was mostly a typical smartwatch, there were a few things that I wanted to specially highlight with this watch.

The Indian smartwatch market has become incredibly competitive in the last couple of years. So, without further ado, let’s have a look at my views on the Honro Choice watch after using them for a couple of weeks –

Honor Choice Watch – Build and Deisgn

The Honor Choice watch does all the basics well when it comes to the design. The case has a metallic finish, and the strap is made out of the regular rubber, which we see in budget smartwatches across the board. The glass on teh front of the watch also did not get scratched up a lot during my time of use. It is did pick up a couple of minor knicks though. Overall, at first glance, the watch did impress me.

However, I was not particularly in love with the back of the watch. It felt very plasticky, and with watches like cmf Watch Pro and offerings like the Hammer Conquer, we have seen better build, especially when it comes to the back of the watch. Despite its hiatus form the Indian market, Honor had been active in some other markets, and would have the resources and R&D to make it better. I had honestly set my expectations higher than what Honor delivered with the Honor Choice watch. As for the fit, which is an important aspect with any smartwatch, the Honor Choice watch does the job well. It is farily light weight and the band that comes fitted on the watch, also did not cause irritation on my skin even when I was wearing the watch for fairly long periods of time.

Features and day to day use

The Honor Choice watch offers a plethora of features that make up all the ground that the watch lost in terms of the build and design. Its 1.95-inch AMOLED full-view display provides a clear view of the watch’s interface, making it easy to navigate through its various features.

One of the standout features of this watch is its support for five major navigation satellite systems. This feature can be particularly beneficial for tracking outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, or running. It allows users to accurately track their routes and monitor their progress, making it an excellent tool for fitness enthusiasts. This is a rarity in this price range.

The watch’s health monitoring features are another highlight. They offer 24-hour protection with one-touch health measurement, providing users with real-time data about their health status. The watch supports 120 workout modes, catering to a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities. Whether you’re into yoga, swimming, or weightlifting, this watch has got you covered. And, given the history of the brand and the experience that I had with its tracking abilities, you will not have a lot to worry about here.

The built-in Honor Health app tracks health metrics such as heart rate, sleep quality, and stress levels, providing useful insights for health-conscious users. This data can be used to make informed decisions about your lifestyle and fitness routine, helping you achieve your health goals. The Bluetooth calling feature is a convenient addition that allows users to make or take calls with one tap. This can be particularly handy for day-to-day use, allowing you to stay connected without having to constantly check your phone. The watch also supports SOS emergency calls, adding an extra layer of safety for users.

The 5ATM water-resistance rating makes the watch suitable for workouts, even in wet conditions. Whether you’re caught in a downpour during a run or you’re doing laps in the pool, this watch can handle it. The 300mAh non-removable battery ensures that the watch can last for a reasonable amount of time before needing a recharge, so you won’t have to worry about it dying in the middle of a workout. The watch is available in black and white colors, offering options to match different styles. Whether you prefer a classic black look or a sleek white design, there’s an option for you.

Should you buy the Honor Choice Watch?

The Honor Choice watch makes for an interesting entry into the Indian smartwatch market. It does offer a lot of features that are baked into the watch, however, there are some things left to be desired in terms of build quality. Overall, it might not be the outright best in its price range, with brands like Amazfit, with their experience in the smartwatch space bringing in all that you would desire from a watch. However, it should be in your list of contenders, because of its features and tracking capabilities.
