We recently got to spend some quality time with the 65-inch variant of the TV and based on our testing and experience with the TV, we will try and answer all Samsung Crystal Vision 4K CUE70-related questions to help you make your buying decision.

How is the design of the Samsung Crystal Vision 4K TV CUE70?

Samsung Crystal Vision 4K TV looks quite premium. That is mainly because the bezels on all sides are narrow and uniform. The stand bundled with the TV can fit in without screws. The connectivity ports on the rear are well-spaced out. The has an angled power plug and is removable, which is to say that it will be easily replaceable should the need arise in future. Overall, we are quite pleased with the TV’s design.

No, the TV does not have a metal chassis or frame. It is entirely made of good-quality polycarbonate. 

Does the Samsung Crystal Vision 4K TV CUE70 have a hard button? 

Yes, the TV has a hard button next to the LED indicator (easy to miss) that you can use for powering it on and for basics like controlling volume in case you can’t find your remote.

How is the Samsung Crystal Vision 4K TV CUE70 remote?

This TV ships with Samsung’s compact SolarCell remote which is quite ergonomic and elegant. The remote charges itself using indoor light and you can also charge it via USB Type-C port at the bottom. 

How to check the battery percentage on the Crystal CUE70 TV smart remote?

To check the battery percentage, you need to go to All Settings >> General and Privacy. From here select the ‘Power and Energy Saving’ option. Scroll down and you will notice your remote’s ‘Available Remote Battery’ percentage towards the end. 

How long does the battery on the remote last? 

During a week of our testing, the remote never ran out of battery. You wouldn’t have to charge it very frequently.

Our Samsung Crystal TV 65CUE70 unit has a basic VA LCD panel with a native contrast ratio of 4560:1. Samsung doesn’t disclose the panel type in the official TV specifications. 

Does the Samsung Crystal Vision 4K TV CUE70 have any dimming technology?

Yes, the TV has global dimming technology. The dimming is disabled only in the PC mode. 

What is the peak brightness of the Samsung Crystal Vision 4K TV 65CUE70 display?

We recorded a peak brightness or luminance of approximately 260 nits on our review unit. The brightness is not high enough for an impactful HDR presentation in bright sequences.

Does the Samsung Crystal Vision 4K TV CUE70 have a 10-bit panel?

The TV comes with an 8-bit panel but supports 10-bit content using FRC.

Does the Samsung Crystal Vision 4K TV CUE70 support 1 billion colours?

Since this is a 10-bit panel, the TV can address 1 billion colour combinations. It must be mentioned that the average human eye can distinguish around 12 million distinguishable colours.

Does the Samsung Crystal Vision 4K TV CUE70 support a wide colour gamut?

We recorded 96% sRGB coverage, 73% DCI-P3 coverage, and 60% BT2020 coverage. This is decent colour gamut coverage in the segment.

Yes, the TV has a Filmmaker mode with an accurate white point and impressive grayscale response in HDR. The primary difference between Filmmaker mode and movie mode is that motion smoothing is disabled in Filmmaker mode.

How is the colour accuracy of the Samsung Crystal Vision 4K TV CUE70?

We measured the colour accuracy of the TV using Spectracal C6 HDR2000 and Calman Ultimate software in the Filmmaker mode with an accurate white point. In our tests, we noticed an average delta error of 4.4 for SDR. The maximum error is at 100% saturated primary and secondary colours, particularly in saturated shades of Red. 

In our perceptual settings, we noted that the colours in skin tones felt a little muted. The overall picture quality still felt decent due to accurate white point and decent greyscale response which are attributes that very few TVs get right in the affordable and mid-range segment.

How do voice commands work on Samsung Crystal Vision 4K TV CUE70?

The TV has support for both Alexa and Bixby voice assistants. 

What HDR formats does Samsung Crystal TV 65CUE70 support?

The TV supports HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG. Samsung doesn’t support Dolby Vision on its TV, but that definitely shouldn’t be a deal-breaker in the mid-range and affordable segments as the TVs that do support Dolby Vision often turn out underwhelming. 

How is the HDR performance of Samsung Crystal Vision 4K TV CUE70?

The TV follows the EoTF curve for HDR accurately and shows decent greyscale and colour accuracy in HDR. We recorded an average delta error of 4.1, which is quite decent.

HDR performance is bogged down by the panel limitation. The low peak brightness and limited dynamic range fail to reproduce impactful HDR. Once again, this will not be noticeable unless you know what you are looking for.  

How wide are the viewing angles of the Samsung Crystal Vision 4K TV CUE70?

The viewing angles of the TV are not up to the mark. Colour shift is noticeable when you view the TV from an angle.

How is the Samsung Crystal Vision 4K TV CUE70 Audio Quality?

The 20W speakers manage decent dialogue clarity across a medium to large-sized room. For surround sound, you will need to invest in an external audio system.
