The magic of putting a bigger screen in a compact body
Big screen smartphones may offer a mode enjoyable video-watching experience, but that usually comes at the cost of ergonomics.
With so much video content to consume, its natural for us to gravitate towards phone with bigger screens. In fact, there was even a special category for big screen phones called phablets. However, putting a large screen on a smartphone comes with its own fair share of problems, the most obvious being ergonomics. Big screen phones are difficult to carry around or use with just one hand. The way to fix this was through a radical overhaul of smartphone design with a change in display aspect ratio and a reduction in bezel size.
Most smartphone manufacturers are moving away from the traditional 16:9 display aspect ratio and moving to taller aspect ratios like 18:9, 18.5:9 and 19:9.with these aspect ratios, the phone remains easier to hold as compared to 16:9 displays. Especially when the screen size is large.
Changing the aspect ratio is one thing, but that isn’t all. There has been a drastic reduction in the size of bezels around the display, especially the thick bezels found on the top and bottom of the display. these thick bezels add to the size of the phone and are generally an eyesore when trying to watch videos. Thankfully, advancements in technology means that these bezels can finally start shrinking, resulting in a greater screen-to-body ratio.
With the upcoming OPPO F7, the company has combined all these technologies to create a phone that offers all the benefits of a larger screen display, but with none of the ergonomic drawbacks that come with it. The smartphone will feature a large 6.2” Full HD+ screen with a notch design that is unlike most other devices in the market. This means that you get more screen to enjoy and less body to deal with. In other words, you get the best of both worlds. On top of this, you also get to enjoy selfie-centric features like a 25MP front camera with the next generation of the company’s AI Beauty technology. There are also other cool features like Sensor HDR, Cover Shot, AR-enabled stickers and more to really make your selfies stand out.
To know more about the phone and what it’s capable of, stay tuned for its unveiling on March 26.
