HIGHLIGHTS

We compare the specs of Redmi Note 3 against the Le Eco Le 1s, Lenovo Vibe K4 Note and Honor 5X, to see where it stands against its competition.

Xiaomi will be announcing the Redmi Note 3 in India on March 3. The phone will be Xiaomi’s re-entry in the budget segment, and is expected to priced around the Rs. 13,000 mark. The Redmi Note 3 was originally launched last month in China, in two variants – one powered by the MediaTek Helio X10 chipset, and the other powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chipset. While both the SoCs are good for a budget device, the company has revealed that India will be getting the Qualcomm-powered variant. So, besides the Snapdragon 650, the phone sports 2/3GB RAM and will also come in 16/32GB of on-board storage. There is a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display, with 1920×1080-pixel resolution. Read: Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Launched in India

The build of the phone is metal, and this is the first time that Xiaomi will bringing a fingerprint scanner-enabled smartphone to India. So, how does it stand against the competition, i.e., Le Eco Le 1s, Lenovo Vibe K4 Note and Honor 5X? Let’s see.

Looking at the specification sheet, it is quite evident that Xiaomi has packed the phone to the brim against the competition. It has everything that a budget smartphone these days can offer – a big display, ample storage, metal build and a fingerprint scanner. The 4000mAh battery on the Redmi Note 3 is a bonus, and we expect it to perform well. However, everything depends on the pricing, and if Xiaomi prices the phone right, we might have a new budget champion in this segment, in a couple of days.
