Xiaomi will be announcing the Redmi Note 3 in India on March 3. The phone will be Xiaomi’s re-entry in the budget segment, and is expected to priced around the Rs. 13,000 mark. The Redmi Note 3 was originally launched last month in China, in two variants – one powered by the MediaTek Helio X10 chipset, and the other powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chipset. While both the SoCs are good for a budget device, the company has revealed that India will be getting the Qualcomm-powered variant. So, besides the Snapdragon 650, the phone sports 2/3GB RAM and will also come in 16/32GB of on-board storage. There is a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display, with 1920×1080-pixel resolution. Looking at the specification sheet, it is quite evident that Xiaomi has packed the phone to the brim against the competition. It has everything that a budget smartphone these days can offer – a big display, ample storage, metal build and a fingerprint scanner. The 4000mAh battery on the Redmi Note 3 is a bonus, and we expect it to perform well. However, everything depends on the pricing, and if Xiaomi prices the phone right, we might have a new budget champion in this segment, in a couple of days.
