HIGHLIGHTS

The Coolpad Note 3S and Lenovo K6 Power are placed squarely against the Xiaomi Redmi 3s Prime.

The year is almost over but the stream of budget smartphones hasn't yet stopped. We have seen two back-to-back budget smartphone launches in the last month alone, both of which are aimed squarely at the sub-10K smartphone segment. There is the Lenovo K6 Power, which offers a Redmi 3S Prime like looks and specifications, and the Coolpad Note 3S, which has a 5.5-inch 720p display, and has a somewhat unique look amongst the sea of similarly designed sub-10K smartphones.

We will be reviewing these new devices soon enough, but until then, here is a quick comparison. We are also adding the Xiaomi Redmi 3s Prime to the comparison, which is currently one of the best smartphones in the segment, to give you a better perspective at where these phones stand.

From the comparison above, it is quite obvious that the Lenovo K6 Power offers almost identical specifications as the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime. However, it does have a higher resolution display and a front-facing camera. The Coolpad Note 3S and the Meizu M3 Note on the other hand offer a bigger displays and slightly older SoCs.

At Rs. 9,999, we also need to address the 2GB variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, which is still the most recommended smartphone in the sub-10K category. And, it is likely that the three new entrants may not perform as well as the Redmi Note 3.

Further, with the exception of the Coolpad Note 3S, the other three phones we compared today offer similar designs. The Coolpad Note 3S on the other hand, isn't as ergonomic as the other two, thanks in part to a bigger display. Its rounded edges and a curved back feel good, and the phone also looks good for the most part, but the thick black bezels along the display stand out.
