OnePlus is often credited as being one of the first such ‘affordable flagships’. The company’s latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 5T follows this tradition and offers impressive value for money. The phone offers the latest tech such as Qualcomm’s current flagship-grade processor, an 18:9 display aspect ratio and dual-rear cameras.
However, OnePlus isn’t the only one with an affordable flagship device in its portfolio. Honor has been launching value for money phones for quite some time now. Its new smartphone, the View 10, aims to offer to an impressive set of specifications at an affordable price. Let’s take a quick look at how these two phones stack up.

As you can see, the Honor View 10 and the OnePlus 5T are pretty close in terms of specifications. Both smartphones offer an 18:9 display aspect ratio, and a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. The size of the screen also pretty much the same with the Oneplus offering a 6.01-inch screen, while the screen on the View 10 is a hair smaller at 5.99-inches.
While the display of the Honor View 10 may be slightly smaller than the OnePlus 5T, there is a big difference when it comes to battery size. The View 10 sports a larger 3750mAh battery, while the OnePlus 5T is equipped with a 3300mAh battery. Both phones offer their own fast charging solutions as well.
When it comes to the rear camera, the two devices are once again evenly matched in terms of specifications. Both sports a dual-rear camera setup with 16MP +20MP cameras. However, the OnePlus 5T sports a 16MP front facing camera, while the View 10 is equipped with a 13MP unit. Both phones also sport octa-core flagship-grade chipsets. The View 10 uses a HiSilicon Kirin 970, while the OnePlus 5T has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. However, the Kirin 970 also comes with a separate Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that is dedicated for AI tasks. As a result, the View 10 claims to offer deep learning based on user behavior.
The Honor View 10 sports a number of AI-based features with the aim of offering a better experience for the user. This includes an accelerated AI translator and smart tips. However, the AI is best used by the phone to take better images. Honor says that the View 10 offers real-time scene and object recognition through intelligent photography algorithms. The company claims that this helps it identify 13 different types of scenes and objects, Then the phone automatically adjusts the camera settings in order to take the best possible picture. The AI also helps take Portrait Mode shots when using the single front cameras and as per the company, offers sharper edges and better background blurring. Honor says that the AI is also capable of smart resource allocation in order to keep things running smoothly, even after months of use.
However, when buying an ‘affordable flagship’, the price has to be taken into consideration. While the OnePlus 5T starts at Rs 32,999, the Honor View 10 is priced at Rs 29,999. So if you’re hunting for an affordable smartphone that offers top-of-the-line specifications, the Honor View 10 is a device that you should not overlook.
