Samsung Galaxy S III voted ‘Smartphone of Year, 2012’
HIGHLIGHTS

The ThinkDigit Weekly Poll results are in, with over 900 readers voting on what they felt was the best smartphone of 2012.

2012 was a great year for mobile phones, each pushing the boundaries of a smartphone’s performance, whilst bringing natural user interfaces, solid battery life, and top-notch optics to the form factor. A great many of these devices that made their way to Indian shores, however, a few have yet to make their presence felt here, despite clamouring cries for their arrival on retail shelves in the country.

The Google LG Nexus 4, best known for its top-end specs coupled with an affordable price tag, has yet to make its way to India, though we’ve been expected it since November last year. The Nokia Lumia 920, the Finnish mobile manufacturing giant’s new flagship Windows Phone 8 device, much vaunted for its camera and gapless, high-resolution touchscreen, is still not here, but in this case, might launch as soon as tomorrow, at a press conference in New Delhi.

Last week, we asked our readers just which device they felt was the best smartphone of 2012, giving them the choice of the four biggest models launched last year. We’ve received over 940 votes, and the results are in!

The Samsung Galaxy S III, which according to the Korean manufacturer, sold more than 30 million units worldwide, was the most popular choice, with 46 percent of the readers (432 votes) voting for it. The Nokia Lumia 920 was the second most popular, with 22 percent of the readers (211 votes) choosing it.

Next up, was the Apple iPhone 5, which launched in a very eager Indian market, and sold out shortly after. 18 percent of the readers (164 votes) chose Apple’s latest flagship device. Last up, the Google Nexus 4, drew 14 percent of the reader’s votes, with 135 voting for it.
