Nokia Lumia 525 First Impressions
Nokia launches another budget phone, to supplement its already very popular Lumia 520.
Nokia India today officially launched the Lumia 525, an updated version of their incredibly popular entry level windows Phone 8 handset, the Lumia 520. The Lumia 520 was an instant hit with many consumers for its relatively low price-point which balanced the performance and specification set rather well. The Lumia 525 apparently takes it up a notch.
The Lumia 525 is essentially the same as the Nokia Lumia 520, in that it packs the same 1GHz dual core processor, the same Adreno 305 GPU and even the same 480×800 pixel 4-inch display, with the same pixel density of 233ppi. So what’s changed? The Lumia 525 now has 1GB of of RAM as against the 512MB on the Lumia 520, and now has a glossy finish instead of its predecessor’s matte look.
We got some hands-on time with the new Lumia 525, which Nokia says will run alongside the Lumia 520, for those who are loking for a better gaming experience. Towards that end, the company has tied up with Gameloft, offering the buyers up to Rs. 2000 worth of free games. Playing Modern Combat 4 was actually quite good on the Lumia 525, so people who love to game on their phones would actually like this device.
The phone has also swapped its matte back for a glossy shell. While we personally preferred the matte finish and think that the glossy look isn’t just tacky, but also a fingerprint magnet. However, these shells are interchangeable, so you do have a choice of Orange, yellow, red and white along with a matte black option.\
