Lumia 920 voted ‘best new phone launch of the season’, ahead of Nexus 4

Updated on 28-Nov-2012

The mobile world is currently holding its breath. Well, big things have come to pass in the recent past, yet things still stand precariously, currently at a standstill. Windows Phone 8 is here, and it has been met with mostly positive reviews, once again bemoaning the lack of a sufficiently vibrant ecosystem – something any platform apart from Android and iOS will always have to grapple with in the hearts of consumers (and reviewers).

Major manufacturers like Nokia and HTC have already released their Windows Phone devices in some regions (in India, only HTC has made an announcement so far), with Samsung and Huawei’s devices expected sometime next month.

Other major releases in the recent past include the Apple iPhone 5 (released in India- read our review), and the LG Nexus 4 (Google’s platform lead device for Android 4.1 / 4.2 Jelly Bean). With this much variety in the market, we thought it would be a good time to gauge the consumer’s level of interest in each of these newly available devices.

Which is why, a couple of weeks ago, we polled our readers and subscribers and asked them which of these above mentioned devices they considered as the best launch of the season. The results are in, and we’ve received nearly 1500 responses.

Interestingly, Nokia’s Lumia 920 seems to have generated the most interest amongst our readers, followed closely by the globally much-desired Nexus 4 smartphone from LG and Google. The Lumia 920 received 511 votes (or 35%) as the ‘best new phone launch of the season’, while the Nexus 4 got 496 votes (or 34%).

Apple’s iPhone 5, which has achieved new sales records in many parts of the world, received 342 votes (or 23%), while the HTC Windows Phone 8X (which we recently reviewed), has received a paltry 111 votes (or 8%).
