LG K7i: World’s first phone with Mosquito Away Technology
The LG K7i comes with Sound Wave Technology that uses ultrasonic frequencies to repel mosquitoes
When asked to name the deadliest animals on the plant, most us would immediately think of Lions, Sharks or other large creatures capable of devouring us whole. However, the animal responsible for the most deaths worldwide is none other than the tiny mosquito. These tiny insects are responsible for the spread of diseases like Malaria, Dengue, Chikungunya and more. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that these insects are responsible for millions of deaths each year. In 2015, Malaria alone caused 438,000 deaths globally.
With such an alarming death rate, it’s no wonder that human beings have been waging a near-constant war to control the spread of these insects. The most common method of repelling insects has to be via the use of Chemical-based repellents. However, while these might succeed in getting rid of mosquitos, they have a number of drawbacks. The chemical compounds used in such repellants may lead to environmental damage, possibly even cause harm to those it comes in direct contact with, especially children and the elderly.
However, not all technology relies on chemicals in order to repel mosquitoes. LG has come up with Sound Wave Technology that can keep mosquitoes at bay without the need to resort to any chemicals. This technology uses Ultrasonic frequencies of 30kHz to keep the insects away. These frequencies are beyond the range of human hearing, which the company says makes it completely harmless to humans. In fact, LG claims that in clinical testing, 72.32 percent of anopheles gambiae mosquitoes were repelled by the technology.
The best thing about this technology is that LG has managed to cram it inside the body of a smartphone, the LG K7i. comes with a special cover, that lets you swap out the standard cover with the Mosquito Away cover. There is also a stand that lets you prop up the phone when using the mosquito away technology. Further, you do not have to trouble yourself with any messy refilling since this tech is always ready for action.
So not only do you get a chemical free mosquito repellent, but you also get a brand new phone for Rs 7,990. The phone sports a 5-inch On-Cell display that makes it easier to hold and use with one hand, and carry in a pocket. It is also 8.1mm thick and weighs 154 grams, which adds to its ergonomics
