Updated on 11-Jun-2014
HIGHLIGHTS

The camera app on the Lenovo Vibe X offers a feature rich UI and extensive settings to get that best shot. We take a look at the camera UI and the various functions and modes it offers

One of the core features that Lenovo boasts about the Vibe X is its camera. The rear camera offers a 13MP resolution and the front cam offers a 5MP resolution along with a wide angle lens. But what good is the hardware, if there isn’t a good app for it.

Well, Lenovo has included a feature rich camera app on the Vibe X which makes shooting pictures quite a delight. The app consists of your basic functions including scene modes, and also allows you to fine tune your exposure, brightness, contrast, saturation and sharpness. There are also controls to tune your ISO, White Balance and even a stereoscopic control to remove bands caused by some light sources. Some shooting modes are also built in including panorama, HDR, lowlight, picture in picture, burst shot, speech recognition, night portrait, beauty mode, smile recognition, macro and timer release.

The app also has a number of filters categorized into three, Lens, Magic and Colour. You can apply any of these filters right when you are shooting.  Apart from these there are some quick and interesting features like shutter sounds, enabling or disabling a grid, horizon check, focus modes, and so on.

Once you are done taking the picture, you can even do some post-processing thanks the inbuilt image editor. It allows you to crop or rotate your picture, add the same filter effects that we saw in the camera app and also features a tilt shift (something like lens blur) and face enhancement. The editor doesn’t discard the original image so you can always the RAW image to process later.

The camera app is truly one of the most feature rich apps that we have tested and makes the camera experience worthwhile.
