With a number of manufacturers launching smartphones with quad-core processors in the low-end segment, the Lava Iris 406q is one of the most affordable. It runs on a Snapdragon 200 quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and an Adreno 302 GPU.
In the software department, the smartphone runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and is said to get the latest Kit Kat update as well. The UI is mostly stock with slight customizations here and there including a launcher with customizable settings. The handset comes with preloaded apps like flashlight, Snapdragon Battery Guru, a video player, Whatsapp, a bunch of themes and so on.The UI is fairly smooth although and everything works quite well. Day to day applications including email, social networking, internet browsing, watching videos, etc. didn’t show any signs of slowing down and everything responds well.
The display is vibrant and offers a decent amount of brightness and contrast. Viewing angles are a bit of an issue as colours wash out when viewed from certain angles. When compared to smartphones from other manufacturers with similar specs, Lava Iris 406q stands out due to its price.
Since the smartphone runs on a Snapdragon processor, we were eager to test some benchmark apps to check out its performance. We tested apps like Smartbench, Antutu, Quadrant and 3DMark. Here are the results:
At Rs. 6999/-the Iris 406q is a pretty decent investment and with such performance results, it manages to give a good competition to the Moto G.
