iQOO is all set to launch the device in India on March 12

With the launch scheduled for March 12, iQOO is preparing to introduce its newest mid-range smartphone, the iQOO Z9, to the Indian market. The brand has already confirmed some key specifications of the upcoming iQOO Z9. The phone will be the first in its segment to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 processor. iQOO claims this makes it the fastest phone in the segment, with an AnTuTu score of 7,34,000. iQOO has also confirmed that the iQOO Z9 will be available in two colourways – Brushed Green and Graphene Blue. The iQOO Z9 is expected to be priced between ₹20,000-₹25,000.

The iQOO Z9 is also the first phone in this segment to feature a 50 MP Sony IMX882 primary camera with OIS capabilities. There is also a secondary depth/macro camera onboard; iQOO is yet to confirm the specifications of this particular camera. I recently had the opportunity to head over to Udaipur to test out the iQOO Z9’s camera capabilities. I tested the phone’s camera thoroughly with a specific focus on its key camera features such as the 50 MP UHD mode, Night Mode, 1x and 2x portrait shots, and 4K video with OIS.

iQOO Z9 camera samples revealed

The iQOO Z9’s 50 MP Sony IMX882 camera comes with an f/1.79 aperture and OIS capabilities. The camera can also capture full-resolution 50 MP shots. The phone is also capable of clicking 2x shots which possibly leverages in-sensor zoom since there is not much discernible loss in detail.

There are several modes on offer such as Night Mode, 1x and 2x portrait mode, 50 MP UHD mode, Pro Mode, Supermoon (up to 20x), and more. The camera captures 4K video at 30 fps, and 1080p video at 30 or 60 fps. You can also capture 4K video with stabilisation enabled.

I put the iQOO Z9’s camera to test in Udaipur recently and here are some pictures clicked from the upcoming mid-range phone. Please note that some of the camera samples have been resized for the web.

Starting off with daylight shots, we clicked several camera samples around Udaipur. While I will reserve my full judgment for the review, the initial impressions are pretty good, with the Z9 showcasing some impressive highlight control. You can also see some 50 MP UHD mode camera samples here.

Moving on to portraits, I clicked a variety of 1x and 2x portraits from the iQOO Z9. Here are some samples.

The brand also claims that the iQOO Z9 can click impressive low-light shots using the Night Mode. Here are some camera samples in low-lit conditions.

So, those were some camera samples from the upcoming iQOO Z9. The smartphone will hit Indian shores on March 12 with the Dimensity 7200 processor and the Sony IMX882 primary camera. Let us know what you thought about the iQOO Z9 camera samples and stay tuned for the full review.
