Realme added another feather to its cap recently with the launch of its latest number of devices, the Realme 10 series. The new devices add to the existing line-up of products from the company and help it take important steps forward with its refreshed design language and powerful hardware. We recently sat down with Madhav Sheth, CEO, of Realme India and President, of Realme International Business Group, to understand what these devices mean for the company, and also what Realme has in store for Indian consumers in 2023.
Q. What does the new 10 series stand for Realme? What is the vision behind the phones?
A. Realme 10 Pro series is a part of our popular number series that reflects our vision of making technology accessible to all and providing a leap-forward experience to users. We started the Realme number series to challenge the status quo and till today continue to follow this motto by making important technological features available to all and not just a fraction of the population. This time, we have attempted to make a curved display available to our users for a rich experience alongside some strong privacy features. Being a new generation of products, and the tenth generation of our Realme Number Series, Realme 10 Pro series is truly special to us and is a perfect combination of technology and design. There is no doubt that it will emerge as a true superstar in the Realme Number Series line-up.
Q. Tell us about what makes the Realme 10 series phones special? And what are the key highlights and features of the phones?
A. Continuing with our commitment to empowering the youth through leap-forward technologies at accessible price points, we have introduced the Realme 10 Pro series that adds a certain level of premium-ness in features for users. Both Realme Pro 5G and Realme Pro+ 5G are equipped with flagship-level displays and powerful 5G processors for an enriching user experience.
The Realme 10 Pro series 5G brings the segment's first 120HZ curved Display, a flagship camera, powerful 5G processors to deliver excellent performance, and Realme UI 4.0 out of the box. Realme 10 Pro + 5G will be the segment’s first smartphone equipped with Flagship-level 120Hz Curved Vision Display with India's first 2160Hz PWM dimming that comes with a Hyperspace design with a massive battery, Dimensity 1080 5G Chipset with a superpowered 5G speed and efficiency and smart interaction and seamless experience.
Q. Are the new Realme 10 series phones a reflection of the brand’s ‘Simply Better' and 'Go premium' strategy?
A. Both our Number series and GT series are based on our ‘Simply Better’ strategy as part of which we simplify our product offerings and give additional importance to the quality of our products. As part of this approach, our Number series will continue to focus on making tech innovations more accessible.
The focused approach is key to our second stage of growth and will enable us to provide best-in-class technology and designs across segments to our users and allow us to work on targeted and long-term growth. We’ve also simplified our product offerings, beginning with the GT Series and Number Series phones, giving additional importance to the quality of the product. While our GT Series will continue reaching for the future of tech and design, our Number Series will focus on making today’s tech innovations more accessible. We spent a year optimizing the product line, and bringing this curved display worth USD 15M.
Q. How does Realme plan to strengthen its numbers series going forward? What are the key targets and milestones for 2023?
A. I am delighted to say that each of our number series has received an amazing response from the users, creating strong milestones for themselves. What’s more exciting is that our Number Series is used by 50 million users globally and 30 million in India. We will abide by our commitment to making powerful technology experiences accessible to the users at the right price points without compromising on quality, ensuring to bring one leap-forward technology for every generation in the future. We can’t wait to bring more new and amazing additions to the number series in the year 2023 to the users.
Q. How is Design essential to the brand’s DNA?
A. Design is essential to our brand’s DNA and key to our entire device ecosystem. Since our inception, we have made major leaps in design to be able to provide a leap-forward experience to the youth and have attempted to enter spaces where no other brand has been before. We understand that the youth now wants a more holistic experience that makes their smartphone experience more enjoyable and delightful. Our Design Studio has played a key role in pushing the boundaries with advanced IDEA concepts and cutting-edge craftsmanship and has brought innovations like brilliant diamond cut design, Light Shift Design and fluorescent design that has made our products more appealing to the youth and been acknowledged across industry platforms.
To push leap-forward design even further, we are making major investments in building Realme Design Studios globally, in strategic areas of the world that are leaders of their craft:
● New Delhi, specializing in human-machine interaction.
● Paris, specializing in the innovative use of colour.
● Shenzhen, specializing in the materials and finish of phone design.
We are also actively engaging with local communities and the youth through partnerships like FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week and Pearl Academy to add local nuances to our product portfolio.
