The Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 price segment is populated with a number of smartphones from almost every brand essentially to tackle the Moto G. Now HTC has launched the Desire 516 which is priced at about Rs.15,000 and features specs that are slightly lower than the Moto G.
The handset is powered by a Snapdragon 200 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with 1GB of RAM and an Adreno 302 GPU. Now to see if the hardware is really worth the price, we ran some benchmark apps and then compared the results to some of the popular handsets in the same price range.
Benchmark | Moto G | Xolo Q1100 | Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 | HTC Desire 516 |
Quadrant Standard | 8540 | 9583 | 8521 | 8130 |
Antutu | 16556 | 19680 | 17191 | 16530 |
Smartbench 2012 (Productivity) | 4489 | 6077 | 5052 | 4894 |
3D Mark Ice Storm | 5679 | 5631 | 5486 | 4466 |
The results show that the Desire 516 is as powerful as the Moto G and even gets closer to the scores of the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2. Of course day to day performance matters more, but this does prove that the Desire 516 is no slouch when it comes to delivering performance.
