The Honor 8 is powered by an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 950 SoC with 4GB of RAM. One cluster consists of four Cortex A53 SoCs clocked at 1.8GHz. This is used for everyday tasks and aimed at being power efficient. However, for more performance intensive tasks like gaming, the phone uses the four Cortex A72 cores, which are clocked at 2.3Ghz. This distribution system ensures that the phone is able to offer power as an when required, while ensuring that it offers a good battery life.
The phone also comes with an i5 co-processor, which is used to control the sensors as well as other features of the device. This co-processor works together with the Kirin 950 SoC to increase processing speed, response time and battery life. There is also a Mali T-880 GPU to help with graphic intensive applications such as gaming.
Having a powerful phone won’t mean much if it won’t be able to last through the day. Knowing this, Honor equipped their flagship with a 3000mAh battery to ensure that users will be ensure that their phone will last them through the day.
The Honor 8 runs EMUI 4.1, which is based on Android Marshmallow v6.0. So users get to enjoy some of the features that Google introduced in Marshmallow. This includes improved app permissions to ensure security and privacy. There is also Doze, which helps to improve battery life even further.
