One of the latest entrants in this uber-competitive environment is the Huawei Y9 2019. Packed with interesting features, the smartphone aims to appeal to consumers by offering a wide gamut of specifications and feature at a reasonable price point. Large, yet compact display
One of the most eye-catching features of the Huawei Y9 2019 is the large 6.5-inch Full View display. Even with a large display, the phone still manages to fit inside the hand comfortably because of the thin bezels and taller 19.5:9 display aspect ratio. The Huawei Y9 2019 also sports a Full HD+ resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, higher than the traditional Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. On top of this, the phone comes with an Eye Comfort Mode certified by TÜV Rheinland, which filters out the harsh blue frequencies harmful to your eyes.
Four’s a good crowd
Unlike most smartphones in the market, the Huawei Y9 2019 offers two sets of dual-cameras — a total of four. This includes a 16MP + 2MP setup at the front and a 13MP + 2MP configuration at the back. The front 16MP sensor features a large f/2.0 aperture lens for better selfies in low-light conditions. The camera on the back offers an even larger f/1.8 aperture lens for even better shots in low light. In fact, the rear camera is capable of offering up to 6-second long exposure.
Smarter pictures
While the camera hardware is pretty impressive, the software helps to take things a notch higher. The Huawei Y9 2019 uses the power of AI in order to make photos look better. Huawei says that the AI can recognise 500+ scene types under 22 categories. It then automatically tweaks the camera settings in order to improve the quality. The A.I. is not just restricted to the back camera and is also used in the selfies. Specifically, the 3D Lighting Effects allows you to mimic studio lighting effects and take pictures with soft lighting, stage lighting, butterfly lighting and more. Last but not the least, A.I. is also used to stabilize shots taken by the rear camera, which comes in quite handy for long exposure shots.
Performance for the price
The Huawei Y9 2019 is powered by the new Kirin 710 chipset that is manufactured using the 12nm process. Huawei notes that as compared to the Kirin 659, the new chipset offers a single-core performance improvement of 75% and a multi-core improvement of 68%. Furthermore, it offers a reduction in power consumption by 30%. The phone also comes with GPU Turbo technology, which the company says offers 2x improvement in GPU Efficiency and a GPU performance increase of 1.3x for improved gaming.
Big battery
The Huawei Y9 2019 is packs a large 4000mAh battery with smarter power consumption optimisation. In fact, Huawei says that the phone offers up to 9 hours of videos or gaming, 65 hours of music and 14 hours of browsing on 4G.
While the Huawei Y9 2019 packs so many features, the company has still managed to price it at Rs 15,990. As such, it is an interesting option to consider for anyone looking for a feature packed smartphone under ₹20,000. The phone will be available for purchase from January 17 onwards via Amazon.in.
