OPPO’s focus on releasing selfie-centric smartphones has been well documented. The company was one of the first to introduce a special ‘Beautify’ mode for selfies and was also among the first to add a wide angle lens to the front camera. With the F-Series of smartphones, the company has continued that tradition. The OPPO F1 family of devices offered consumers front cameras that large pixel counts. With the OPPO F3 range, the company took the dual-camera trend, and brought it to the front camera. The OPPO F5 took things a step further by adding AI Beauty Technology to the mix, harnessing the power of AI to make you look good.
With its upcoming OPPO F7 smartphone, the company plans to take things up a notch. The company is planning to take the lessons learnt from its previous selfie-centric smartphones, and make them even better. OPPO is scheduled to unveil the smartphone on March 26, but here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect from the phone.
First up is an overhauled camera setup that improves upon its predecessors. While the OPPO F5 came with a 20MP front facing camera, the OPPO F7 will take things up a notch by offering a 25MP unit. On top of this, the F7 will also improve upon the AI feature. With AI Beauty Technology 2.0, the phone will now look for 290+ positioning spots, to ensure that any selfie you take is ‘social media worthy.’
That isn’t the only cool new tech that you’ll also get a new HDR technology called the Sensor HDR. The feature offers a greater range of luminance levels when taking an image. It will help capture greater details, contrast and colour range. So whether you take a selfie in bright sunlight or shade, you’ll get an evenly lit image with true-to-life colour reproduction. On top of this, you will also get a bunch of added features like Cover Shot, and AR-enabled sticker to add a dash of style to the selfies you take.
On top of this, you get a large 6.23-inch FHD+ display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. You also get a very high screen-to-body ratio of 89.08%, so you get to enjoy more of the display with none of the distracting bezels. You also get a display aspect ratio of 19:9 that makes the phone easier to hold with one hand as compared to a similar sized device with a traditional 16:9 aspect ratio. In fact, while the phone offers such a large display, the body of the phone is smaller than a typical 5.5-inch screen phone. The phone itself comes with a metal unibody design that adds to its premium look at feel. On top of this, since the display of the phone takes up so much of the front, the phone looks very different from most other phones in the market, especially when you take into consider the notch in the display.
All these features make for a pretty interesting smartphone. To know more about the phone and what it’s capable of, stay tuned for its unveiling on March 26.
